The City of Westwood is seeking dedicated and community-oriented Police Officers (certified preferred) to join our professional team. Located in Northeast Johnson County, we border Kansas City, MO, to the east and Kansas City, KS, to the north.
Our department serves a collective population of approximately 2,240 residents across three cities. The area features two state highways, a large medical facility, a Walmart Neighborhood Market, excellent schools, and a strong sense of community with close access to premier entertainment and recreation.

Position & Compensation
• Competitive Salary Range: $53,979 - $64,097 (Lateral incentive dependent on experience)
• Classification: Non-Exempt (FLSA standards)
• Status: Open until 07-17-2026 @ 5pm

Requirements & Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of certified road patrol experience is preferred.
• Certification: Must possess a certification from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) OR be eligible to obtain certification by reciprocity within the first year.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must be able to obtain a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education annually.
• Core Competencies: Ability to adapt to and treat different people, behaviors, and circumstances with respect and professionalism.
• Disqualifiers: No felony convictions, no felony drug usage, and must possess a clean driving record.
The Selection Process
Candidates must successfully navigate the following phases:
1. Application & Background Packet submission
2. Oral Board Interview
3. Polygraph (or similar evaluation)
4. Interview with the Chief of Police
5. Post-Offer: Psychological evaluation, drug screen, and physical examination
