Complete Streets Policy and Plan

In October 2020, the City Council passed Resolution 85-2020 adopting a Complete Streets Policy for the City of Westwood. That Resolution called for the creation and adoption of a Complete Streets Plan.

As such, in Spring 2021, the City convened a Complete Streets Task Force to shape a Complete Streets Plan for Westwood. This task force met six times over a two month period to address the following questions:

  • What benefit would executing a Complete Streets Plan in Westwood provide? How would this work, and living in a community incorporating Complete Streets concept impact your life and normal business?
  • What would and should Complete Streets look like in Westwood?
  • Where are there areas of disadvantage, disparities, and underrepresentation in and around Westwood that Complete Streets concepts could help to reach?
  • What data should the City be collecting and reporting on to ensure our transportation system is serving our community well?
  • Is the Complete Streets Plan (which you all will be helping to create) resilient/sustainable for future generations of the community? Is it actionable?

At the conclusion of this work, the Governing Body adopted the Task Force created and recommended Complete Streets Plan at its August 12, 2021 regular City Council meeting.
