Animals

Owners of dogs and cats are required to register their pet on an annual basis. Annual registration fees are $5 for each altered pet and $10 for each unaltered pet. It is unlawful to have more than two dogs and two cats over the age of three months, in any household, without a special permit from the Governing Body.

The City of Westwood has contracted all Animal Control services through the Mission Police Department and their civilian Community Service Officer (CSO) program.  For service please call Dispatch at 913-782-0720.

Responsible Pet Ownership

Owning a pet is a wonderful experience and the City of Westwood hopes the time you and your pet spend together is memorable. However, it is your responsibility to ensure that your pet does not interfere with the rights of your friends, neighbors and general public.
 

  • Please pick up after your pet if it eliminates on public or private property. 
  • Any animal afflicted with a contagious or infectious disease shall not be exposed to the public.
  • Pet owners are responsible for damage caused by their pet to any personal property.
  • Be sure to leash your pet. It is unlawful for the owner of of any pet to allow the animal to run at large within the City of Westwood.
